At Runa Yoga, we strive to do everything with great meaning and intention behind it. Our Wayfinder Yoga Retreat is no exception!
If you have been to our studio, you would know it is pretty hard to miss our one-of-a-kind, large and in charge, hand-drawn and hand-painted mandala created by local artist Tom Rossmann.
He chose to feature the Vegvisir, which means “That Which Shows the Way” as the center point for this mandala. This is a symbol that was used as a Viking Compass and protection against getting lost. Although the Vikings did have directional finding instruments of their own, most of their navigation came down to nature and connection with the world around them (the sun, stars, flight patterns of birds, the color of the water).
We use this as a visual Drishti, a centerpiece to focus on for balancing postures to help ground and steady ourselves. But for us, it goes a little deeper than that, we wanted a Drishti for the studio itself, a piece to guide and embody our intention to build this community and impart on this adventure.
We knew we wanted to translate that meaning into our new retreat logo! That's why we have chosen to have the Vegvisir at the center to guide us in our journey.
We couldn’t ask for a better Drishti to remind us of our connection to each other, to nature and to our intention of using breath and movement to connect with our most authentic selves.
